        MAYNARD ELECTED CHAIRMAN

William Maynard of Cummins Great Lakes in DePere, Wisconsin, was elected as Chairman of the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA) at the group's annual meeting held November 15 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

The WMCA is a non-profit trade association representing the interests of the trucking industry in Wisconsin.  The association has approximately 1,300 member companies and is affiliated with the American Trucking Associations (ATA) in Washington D.C.

At the noon luncheon after his election, Maynard commented, “It is my belief that the Transportation Business will play a more important role in the economic recovery that we are seeking within America. Our nation’s products move by truck and this is a very key factor to our recovery success. The transportation business must be proactive, it must be profitable, and it has to grow. Our nation will recover, it will be a stronger nation and transportation will play a bigger role in the future success of America.”

Other WMCA officers elected at that meeting were:

(From left to right are: William Maynard, Evelyn Skinner, Buck Jenkins,

·        First Vice Chair - Evelyn Skinner, Skinner Transfer, Reedsburg

·       Second Vice Chairman - Buck Jenkins, Diamond Transportation, Racine

·        Secretary – Tom Vandenberg, Schneider National, Green Bay

·        Treasurer – Pauline Jaske, Fairway Transit, Pewaukee

·        ATA State Vice President - Bob Schaupp, L.C.L. Transit, Green Bay

·        Alternate ATA State Vice President - Buck Jenkins, Diamond Transportation, Racine

He is the first allied (non-trucker) member to ever be elected as the association’s chairman.  Maynard is also active in a number of other transportation-related organizations, such as the Transportation Builders Association, the Wisconsin-Michigan Timber Producers Association, and a variety of traffic clubs around the state.

Maynard’s entire career has been with the same company. He started his career as a parts specialist in 1958 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He became Parts manager in 1959 and served in that capacity until 1973 when he was named branch Manager of his company’s DePere operation. In 1983 he was named Vice President and in 1986 he was named General Manager. Finally, in 1993 he was promoted to President of Cummins Great Lakes Incorporated.

In his spare time, Maynard enjoys reading, golf, playing the guitar, and anything involving the Green Bay Packers.
