SUSSEX
DRIVER NAMED 2003 WISCONSIN ROAD TEAM MEMBER
Scott
Troyk, a Sussex resident, has been named to 2003 Wisconsin’s Road Team. The
Road Team consists of six outstanding professional truck drivers who travel
throughout the state promoting highway safety.
Their sponsor, the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA), created
the Road Team in 1988 to help improve highway safety, promote professionalism
in the industry and improve the trucking industry's public image. Scott
has been a professional truck driver for 19 years and just recently was hired
by Roadway Express, Oak Creek as an over-the-road driver. Scott has been very
active in State and National Truck Driving Competitions since 1996. These
competitions test the skills of truck drivers. There is a written test, a
pre-trip inspection competition and a driving obstacle course as parts of this
competition. Champions at the State level go on to compete in a National
competition. Scott has been State champion 4 times and took second place at
the National Truck Driving Championships in 2002. He enjoys hunting and
fishing in his spare time. Scott lives in Sussex with his wife Cheryl. As a Wisconsin Road Team member, Scott will talk with civic organizations, high school drivers education classes, truck driving groups, safety forums and media people about highway safety and the trucking industry's importance to Wisconsin's economy. In 2002, Wisconsin's Road Team visited with over 15,812 driver-education students in over 254 schools throughout the state, discussing how to safely share the road with a truck and emphasizing general highway safety tips. If anyone would like to talk to your group, please contact Sue Webb at the WMCA office in Madison at (608) 833-8200 ext 12 or sfwebb@witruck.org. |
