MENOMONIE DRIVER NAMED 2003 WISCONSIN ROAD TEAM MEMBER

Steve Springer, a Menomonee resident, has been named to 2003 Wisconsin’s Road Team.

The Road Team consists of five outstanding professional truck drivers who travel throughout the state promoting highway safety.  Their sponsor, the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA), created the Road Team in 1988 to help improve highway safety, promote professionalism in the industry and improve the trucking industry's public image.

Steve has been a professional truck driver for 26 years and has worked the last four years for Wal-Mart in Menomonie, WI where he is a driver trainer. Steve has offered practical coaching/mentoring to new drivers at Wal-Mart. He has received numerous safety awards including the Good Sam’s Award for helping a stranded motorist in 2000. Steve lives in Menomonie with his wife, Julie, and their 3 children.

As a Wisconsin Road Team member, Steve will talk with civic organizations, high school drivers education classes, truck driving groups, safety forums and media people about highway safety and the trucking industry's importance to Wisconsin's economy.  In 2002, Wisconsin's Road Team visited with over 15,812 driver-education students in over 254 schools throughout the state, discussing how to safely share the road with a truck and emphasizing general highway safety tips.

If anyone would like to talk to your group, please contact Sue Webb at the WMCA office in Madison at (608) 833-8200 ext 12 or sfwebb@witruck.org.
